Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her employer is ESPN as a SportsCenter News Anchor. She joined ESPN in the year of 2016. The daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from when she was nine years old. It is this skill which helped her obtain her first job as an Univision Production Assistant in Miami. In Miami, she worked with the producers of National shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. In 2009, the CBS subsidiary in St. Petersburg hired her after this as an sports reporter. In 2009 she moved into Rio Grande Valley, Texas for work as a news reporter for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. In reporting on news stories about drugs and immigration issues from both sides of the Mexico-Texas border, she was a news reporter on the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5pm, then an anchor for the news channel with a news anchor in English at 9 pm and the news anchor was on until 10pm before returning to channel Spanish channel. She would also fill in at times as a news and sport anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed additional responsibilities. She reported on events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys as well as the NBA Postseason and the Finals FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports channel Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. She was a host of sports for the morning program of Despierta America Deportes. Also, she was anchor of the sports segment in Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. Also, she has a younger sibling. The family in 1992 left Mexico and moved to Miami. The couple divorced within a short time and in the year 1995, she got married to a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 due to kidney cancer. On a family vacation in Ohio, the younger Collins took a place with her older sister. Antonietta, a high-school senior with an idea of what she wanted her future to look like, traveled to Mount Union University in order to find out what she could get out of the college. She discovered that she liked the campus and that the school had the program she desired. After completing her high school education she was accepted into the university to study media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who also managed WRMU's 91.1FM station for which she worked over the years, became her friend. The passion he had for journalism as well as her self-confidence instilled confidence in her. She in turn was determined to achieve the standards he set and to not fail him.
